This is a love Poem I wrote in May, last Year.
It feels very much befitting for this day and even though our love relationship with Jesus is daily, we get to celebrate a little extra today.
Don’t be fooled, no romance will beat love with Love Himself. He knows how to love you well. And right. And good. And in that is His perfect timing that considers the end before we experience the beginning.
So while you wait for your God-ordained soul mate, don’t miss what’s right in front of you.
Love doesn’t get better than this.
I always dreamed of one of those youth-spawned romances
Though I’m not the girl that dreamt of a ring and sparkling white dress, I did want my 6-yr old best friend to become my lover and soulmate
I had a strong desire for a playwright kind of love
Male best friend turned boyfriend with the cutest pre-destined inevitable love story
I wanted someone who knew me… you know. Really knew me
And what better way to have that than to have him by your side through all the seasons time and time again as you age, as you grow and as you change?
Someone who knows me at my core and loves me for that
Someone who recognizes the add-ons that are subject to change and is accepting of those too
Today, I realize I do have that…
Well, not exactly but something better
God by my side from the beginning of time is deeper and stronger than the bond I could have hoped to form with any boy-turned-man
He’s been my prince charming, warming my heart before I had the ability to speak
Showering me with love and care
Making it known to me His attention to every detail
And constantly reminding me that I’m the apple of His eye
We grew up together…
Well, I grew up with Him
He covered me, nursed me, nurtured me
Loved me, fought with me, grieved with me, comforted me and rejoiced with me
And unlike even the best romances, He knows ALL of me
It doesn’t get deeper than that
Mind, spirit, soul and body, it’s all bare before Him
See-through and fragile only to be handled with care by those authorized
My long-time lover. My lifetime friend
It’s not the same… not quite what I had in mind
But nothing beats this. There’s nothing quite as sweet

I implore you to this song as a reminder of the God you serve. It was the soundtrack He brought to my mind as I wrote this.
